The leader of the Mexican Labour Party (PT) has voiced support for the Vietnamese AO/dioxin victims, saying that US chemical companies must take responsibility for the great damages they have caused to the Vietnamese people.

PT General Secretary Alberto Anaya Gutierrez made the statement at a ceremony in Mexico City on August 16 where he presented 120 wheelchairs to the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/dioxin (VAVA).

The visiting head of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Commission for External Relations Hoang Binh Quan, who received the gift from the PT on behalf of the VAVA, thanked the PT and its leader for their practical support and assistance to Vietnamese AO/dioxin victims. He said this contributes to the protection of peace and justice in the world.

Earlier, at a working session with visiting Party member Quan, the Mexico-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians Group expressed its solidarity and support to Vietnamese AO/dioxin victims in their fight for justice.

The group agreed to include the AO issue in the agenda of the Mexican House of Representatives and proposed Mexico City to consider the construction of a statue and a photo exhibition on the AO disaster./.
