Vietnam is an example of poverty reduction, Mexican congressmen said at a welcome ceremony on June 28 for Vietnam ’s new ambassador to Mexico , Le Thanh Tung.

The congressmen from the Mexico-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Group underlined the necessity to disseminate experiences and lessons learnt from Vietnam ’s fight against poverty among the Mexican and Latin American people.

Pedro Vanzquez, President of the Mexico-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Group, who is Politburo member of the Labour Party of Mexico, hailed Vietnam ’s fighting spirit for national independence and freedom as exemplary one in the 20 th century.

Ambassador Tung took the occasion to thank the Mexican government and people for their support for Vietnam ’s past struggle for national liberation and current national construction and defence.

He asserted determination to deepen cooperation between the two law-making bodies and the two countries in various fields.

The diplomat briefed the Mexican congressmen of Vietnam ’s renewal achievements as well as its efforts to overcome war aftermaths, especially to assist Agent Orange victims./.
