When addressing the ceremony, the Group’s Chairman Pedro Vazquez Gonzalez underlined that the group’s main task is to increase ties between the two parliaments and nations in the current context of globalisation, which will help to protect the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of both countries.

The Mexican Workers’ Party (PT) has taken the lead in boosting friendship and cooperation with Vietnam , especially in health, agriculture and cultural exchanges, said Gonzalez, who is also coordinator of the PT parliamentary group.

Vietnamese Ambassador Pham Van Que said that the inauguration of the friendship group is an important event which will further cooperation between the two countries and help to raise the value of two-way trade to 1 billion USD by next year.

He said he believed that Vietnam and Mexico , who were close friends during past struggles against foreign invaders, will become reliable partners in every aspect of life.

Later on those at the ceremony attended the opening of the “ Vietnam -its countryside and people” photographic exhibition.
