Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - Surat Thani and Koh Samui have been featured in the upcoming seventh edition of the Michelin Guide Thailand 2024, set to be published at the end of this year.

According to International Director of Michelin Guide Gwendal Poullennec, Surat Thani and Koh Samui have many beautiful natural wonders, cultural heritage, and culinary experiences that would appeal to tourists. The blend of local and international cuisine, beautiful ambiance, and friendly hospitality of the locals, have impressed Michelin Guide inspectors.

Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Yuthasak Supasorn stated that the launch of Michelin Guide Thailand has contributed significantly to the TAT’s mission to attract foreign tourists. He emphasised that food is one of Thailand’s "5F" soft powers, including film, festivals, fashion, and fighting (Muay Thai).

Surat Thani Vice Governor Chusak Rooying also highlighted that the province is also famous for producing rambutan, coconut juice, turmeric, and blue swimming crabs. He also mentioned that there are many tourist attractions on both the mainland and the islands, such as Ratchaprapa Dam, Khao Sok National Park, Wat Phra Borommathat Chaiya, and Phum Riang Village.

Michelin Guide’s coverage expanded from Bangkok in 2018 to include other provinces such as Nakhon Ratchasima, Ubon Ratchathani, Udon Thani, and Khon Kaen in the 2023 edition.
