Military chief welcomes Japanese General

Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, Senior Lieutenant General Do Ba Ty hosted a reception in Hanoi on August 12 for visiting Chief of Staff of the Japan Ground Self-Defence Force Gen. Eiji Kimizuka.

At the reception, Ty applauded the working visit by General Eiji Kimizuka and his delegation, stating that over the past years, the two countries’ defence cooperation has been implemented effectively in many areas, contributing to strengthening bilateral friendship.

General Eiji Kimizuka said he felt pleased with the visit as it allowed him to learn about Vietnam’s history, people and armed forces.

Earlier, the Japanese guest held talks with Lieutenant General Nguyen Quoc Khanh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army.

The two sides informed each other of armed forces building in each country, as well as exchanged opinions on regional and international issues.

They also introduced each other to the structure of their ground forces and defence policies and put forth measures to boost the two ground forces’ ties in the time to come.-VNA
