An UH-1 helicopter on a training mission with four crew members on board lost contact and went missing in Ho Chi Minh City in the morning of January 28, Lieutenant General Vo Van Tuan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, said.

The helicopter took off at the southern city’s Tan Son Nhat Airport at 7:15 a.m. and lost signal at 7:23 a.m., Tuan said, adding that authorised agencies are promptly searching for the missing aircraft.

Regarding to the assumed crash position in HCM City’s Binh Chanh district, Chairman of the district’s People’s Committee Nguyen Van Tuoi said relevant forces of Binh Chanh and the city are scouring for the chopper here.

The UH-1 helicopter belongs to Regiment 917 under Division 370 of Vietnam’s Air Defence-Air Force Service.-VNA
