Hanoi (VNA) – A delegation from Military Region 5 led by Commander Lieut. Gen Thai Dai Ngoc visited Military Region 1 of the Royal Cambodian Military on December 4-5.

At a meeting with General Huot Chhieng, Commander of Military Region 1 of Cambodia, Ngoc thanked the Cambodian side for coordinating with and creating favourable conditions for Vietnam’s Military Region 5 in searching and repatriating martyrs’ remains, and supporting the Vietnamese community to settle down in the area.

He proposed that Military Region 1 give advice to the local administration on promptly raiding establishments using Vietnamese forced labourers who were tricked into illegally crossing the border to Cambodia.

The two sides shared pleasure at the close coordination between the two military regions in exchanging information, giving consultations for the speeding up of border demarcation and border marker planting as well as prevention and control of illegal border crossing and infiltration activities, and fighting criminals and social evils.

On the occasion, the Vietnamese side handed over 18,000 USD provided by the Vietnamese Government to the Cambodian side to support it in in the search for and repatriation of the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Cambodia./.
