Jakarta (VNA) – The Indonesian Pertamina (Persero) oil and gas company has mobilised all resources to provide millions of litres of fuel to Central Sulawesi which has seriously hit by earthquakes and tsunami recently.

Due to difficulties in aviation and priority for the transportation of necessities and wounded people, the firm transported the fuel by sea, meeting the demand of factories and power generators’ operation as well as hospitals and people’s shelters.

Pertamina Vice Director for public relations Adiatma Sardjito said that on October 4, two vessels carrying more than 5 million litres of fuel, including petrol and diesel oil, arrived in Donggala port, while other vessels were on the way to Palu and neighbouring areas.

As of October 5, the firm used four oil tankers to transport 11.2 million litres of fuel are heading to the ports in disaster-hit areas, he said.

The firm has also sent an expert team to the areas to fix damaged gas stations and set up temporary fuel supply system in major locations.-VNA
