The Ministry of Home Affairs held a ceremony on August 17 to celebrate its 70th founding anniversary (August 28, 1945).
In his remarks at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc praised the ministry’s contributions over the past 70 years and urged the ministry to speed up the public administration reform programme and work closely with other related State bodies in building an e-Government towards a democratic, modern, professional and efficient public administration.
At the event, he presented the ministry with the Ho Chi Minh Order.
The Ministry of Home Affairs were established on August 28, 1945 with General Vo Nguyen Giap as the first minister.
Since then, the ministry has acted as an advisor to the Party and State on organising authorities at all levels, managing civil servants and marking local administrative borders.
The ministry has also been responsible for drafting various legal papers on governmental structure, including the Law on Government Organisation and Law on Local Government Organisation while its public administration reform programme nationwide from 2001-2010 and 2011-now has had positive progress, improving the effectiveness of civil servant management.-VNA
Health Ministry lags behind in public administration reform
The Health Ministry was at the bottom of the ministerial-level public administration reform index 2012 (PAR INDEX 2012) with 64.78 percent, announced the Ministry of Home Affairs at the Government’s regular January meeting in Hanoi on January 25.
