Ministry to build traceability system for products of industry and trade sector

The Ministry of Industry and Trade will build an origin tracing system to create a database on goods managed by the ministry to meet customers’ increasing demand on tracing origin of goods.

Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - The Ministry of Industryand Trade will build an origin tracing system to create a database on goodsmanaged by the ministry to meet customers’ increasing demand on tracingorigin of goods.

This system will also connect with the national goods tracingsystem, according to the ministry.

In addition, to contribute to the development of asustainable value chain and to improve the quality of products, the ministryhas issued Decision 1978/QD-BCT on a project implementing, applying andmanaging the tracing system of goods until 2025.


According to the decision,the ministry will complete the system of legal documents on tracingproducts in the industry and trade sector and propose a list of products thatmust ensure traceability.


The ministry will studythe application of new technologies for traceability andsupport businesses in implementing traceability. It will also have aninformation programme on tracing origin of goods for enterprises.


Due to increasing demandfor the traceability of goods, localities and enterprises from production todistribution are implementing the management of product traceability.


Ho Chi Minh City hasissued and implemented a project on management, identification and traceabilityof fresh vegetables, pork, poultry, and eggs.

Meanwhile, the Mekong delta province of Soc Trang Provincehas stamps of traceability for products such as rice, fish sauce, custardapple tea and dried buffalo meat, a local newspaper reported.

Nguyen Van Tham, director of Hau Giang Department of Industryand Trade, said that the southern province focuses on implementing origintraceability for some key products such as Nam Roi pomelo, saffron orange,sugar orange, mango, pineapple, seedless lemon, fish, custard apple andsugarcane.

Retailer Saigon Co.op has also been managing traceability ofproducts by applying new technical standards for fresh food products atits supermarkets, hypermarkets and shops. This is a part of activitiesimproving the quality control for input goods in the Saigon Co.op retailsystem./.

Over 60% of long-stalled projects have obstacles resolved

Of the 8,002 long-stalled projects, 4,938 completed the settlement of obstacles in line with conclusions of the Party Central Committee and resolutions of the National Assembly and Government, as well as relevant Government decrees and guiding documents as of July 20, up 564 projects from the previous month.

Ho Chi Minh City to integrate IoT into smart transport infrastructure

To promote IoT application in smart transport, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Chairman has assigned the Department of Construction to lead the deployment of IoT in the construction, management, operation and maintenance of transport infrastructure.
