Miss Vietnam 2012 Dang Thu Thao will be the ambassador for a charity text-messaging drive to raise funds for Vietnamese AO victims, the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange /dioxin (VAVA) said on August 9.
VAVA President Sen. Lieut. Gen Nguyen Van Rinh said that the beauty queen is expected to work to promote VAVA-launched activities through the media, helping send out the association’s messages to the public.
She will also garner donations for Vietnamese AO victims, and support for the struggle for justice and legitimate interests of the victims.
Her first job will be to encourage people to send message to 1409 to raise funds for Vietnamese AO victim from August 1 through September 30.
According to the VAVA President, as from 2013, the association will select public figures as ambassadors for its programmes.
Since being crowned Miss Vietnam last year, Dang Thu Thao, a 22-year-old student of Tay Do University in the southern province of Can Tho , has take part in various charitable activities. She was the ambassador for traffic safety in 2012, and has worked as a volunteer of Operation Smile.-VNA
