An official welcoming ceremony was held in Hanoi on Dec. 8 in honour of Defence Minister Luvsanvandan Bold and a high-ranking military delegation from Mongolia .

Vietnamese Defence Minister General Phung Quang Thanh and a number of high-ranking officers of the Vietnam People’s Army were present at the ceremony.

A military delegation of Vietnam, headed by General Thanh, held talks with the Mongolian military delegation, headed by Minister Luvsanvandan Bold.

General Thanh described the visit as an important milestone to open up a new development stage in military relations between the two countries and contribute to boosting the traditional friendship between the two peoples.

For his part, Minister Luvsanvandan Bold expressed joy at the achievements in national development and defence of Vietnam over past years and congratulated Vietnam on successfully hosting the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting plus (ADMM+) in Hanoi recently.

The two sides shared experiences in building the armed forces in each country and discussed measures to boost cooperation in military medicine, training and coping with non-traditional security challenges.

The two ministers agreed that in the future, relevant agencies of the two armies will work towards the establishment of defence attaché offices and make preparations for signing of the agreement on bilateral national defence cooperation between the two ministries at a suitable time./.
