The Vietnamese Embassy in Mozambique held a meeting with ten local students selected to study in Vietnam under a partner government scholarship programme on September 29.

Vietnam is willing to support the study of Mozambican students overseas, said Ambassador Nguyen Van Trung, noting that education and training are among the two nations’ cooperation priorities.

The diplomat also reviewed current affairs in Vietnam while encouraging the students on their upcoming journey.

Octavio Manuel de Jesus, Director of Mozambique’s institute of scholarships, hailed the Vietnamese goodwill and assistance towards the scholarship programme between the two governments.

He advised the students to follow Vietnamese laws and regulations and work hard to absorb knowledge, contributing to the growth of mutual trust and understanding between the two peoples.

Vietnam and Mozambique have thus far launched five scholarship exchanges under an education collaboration protocol that helps Vietnamese students learn Portuguese in Mozambique and Mozambican students study agriculture, mechanics, traditional medicine and maritime industry in Vietnam.

Twenty Mozambican nationals have been trained in Vietnam thus far, some of whom are now working for Vietnamese-invested agricultural projects in their homeland.

As of 2015, both sides agreed to double their scholarships to ten each year.-VNA
