More students receive Odon Vallet scholarships

The August 29 presentation ceremony in Dong Hoi city of Quang Binh province was attended by Prof. Odon Vallet from France ’s Sorbonne-Paris University , who started the foundation, and Prof. Dr. Tran Thanh Van, President of the Association Rencontres du Vietnam (Meet Vietnam) together with more than 300 outstanding students in the region.
Among the scholarships, worth nearly 2 billion VND (94,500 USD) in total, 227 were awarded to students in Quang Binh province. Meanwhile, Ha Tinh and Quang Tri provinces each received 45 scholarships.
Over the past 13 years, Prof. Odon Vallet has spent all of his saving money on scholarships for poor high school and university students in France and Vietnam as an encouragement for them to pursue their study.
Since 2001, he has presented over 20,000 scholarships totaling more than 100 billion VND (4.7 million USD) to Vietnamese students through the Meet Vietnam organisation.
So far this year, over 2,000 Odon Vallet scholarships, worth nearly 19 billion VND (898,000 USD), have been granted to outstanding students across the country.-VNA
