- Party General Secretary To Lam hosted a reception in Hanoi on December 4 for Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) Maeda Tadashi.
Lam affirmed that Vietnam places great importance on its relationship with Japan, saying the issues of interests of the Japanese Government and the JBIC are also Vietnam's breakthrough priorities in the time ahead, including transport infrastructure, energy, and digital technology. Read full story
- State President Luong Cuong visited and presented gifts to officers and soldiers of Bat Mot Border Guard Station in the central province of Thanh Hoa on December 4, as part of his working trip to meet with voters following the 15th National Assembly’s 8th session.
Founded on April 30, 1959, the Bat Mot Border Guard Station is located in Kheo hamlet, Bat Mot commune, Thuong Xuan district. It is tasked with managing a 17.49km section of the borderline, including the Kheo - Tha Lau auxiliary border gate on National Highway 47, which connects to Sam To district in the Lao province of Houaphanh. - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has requested continuing to review and find out shortcomings in legal documents and propose amendments and supplements, thus removing "bottlenecks" to achieve double-digit economic growth.
Chairing the Government's meeting on law-building in Hanoi on December 4, PM Chinh asked ministers and heads of sectors to ensure timely, effective, and quality lawmaking with the utmost sense of responsibility. - Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Tran Thanh Man and his spouse Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga met with Japanese Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako at the Imperial Palace on December 4 as part of their ongoing official visit to Japan.
The Emperor expressed his gratitude for Vietnam's support for Japan as a devastating earthquake hit its Noto Peninsula recently. He also extended his condolences over the damage caused by Typhoon Yagi which struck Vietnam in September. Read full story
- National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his hope for stronger legislative ties with Japan, especially cooperation between the two friendship parliamentarians’ groups, while receiving Chairman of the Japan - Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance Nikai Toshihiro in Tokyo on December 4.

- Politburo member and Permanent member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Cam Tu held talks with Politburo member, Permanent member of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee’s Secretariat and State Vice President of Laos Bounthong Chitmany in Hanoi on November 4, as part of the latter’s working trip to Vietnam from December 3-6.

- National Assembly Vice Chairman Tran Quang Phuong hosted a reception in Hanoi on December 4 for a delegation of the Chinese Association for International Understanding led by its President Ji Bingxuan.
Phuong highlighted the growing Vietnam-China relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties on January 18, 1950, saying that the year 2025 will mark a major milestone as they will celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the Year of Vietnam-China Humanistic Exchange. - President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Phan Anh Son received an international delegation of Protestant pastors and two representatives of the US-based Institute for Global Engagement (IGE), in Hanoi on December 4.
The delegation, led by IGE President Bob Roberts, is paying a visit to Vietnam from December 1 to 6. The trip is part of a joint initiative between VUFO and IGE under their signed memorandum of understanding as well as of an annual programme that brings together international Protestant pastors to different nations. - The Cuban Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City on December 4 held a ceremony to celebrate the 64th founding anniversary of Vietnam-Cuba diplomatic relations (December 2, 1960 - 2024), during which the municipal authorities presented 100 tablets to the Cuban people as a token of friendship.
In her remarks, Cuban Consul General Ariadne Feo Labrada said that the two countries have sustained an exemplary relationship over the past 64 years and that the responsibility of current generations is to actively strengthen the bilateral cooperation and friendship across sectors. Read full story
- The Ba Chua Xu (Holy Mother of the Realm) Festival on Mount Sam in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang was officially recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, at the 19th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in Paraguay on December 4.
The festival has been preserved and practised for generations in Chau Doc of An Giang province. It is held from the 22nd to the 27th of the fourth lunar month, at the Ba Chua Xu Temple on Mount Sam and the stone pedestal on the mountain to worship the Holy Mother. Read full story./.
