Hanoi (VNA) - The following is a list of selected news summaries last night by the Vietnam News Agency.

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his spouse met with the Vietnamese Embassy's staff and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Singapore on February 8 evening (local time) right after arriving in the island state for a three-day official visit.

At present, the Vietnamese community in Singapore now has over 15,000 people, including around 9,000 students, 2,000 intellectuals and 2,000 workers. Read full story

- Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue has sent letters expressing his deepest sympathy to Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mustafa Sentop, Speaker of the People's Council of Syria Hammouda Youssef Sabbagh, legislatures and people of the two countries over serious damage caused by the recent devastating earthquake there.

In his letters sent on February 8, Chairman Hue expressed his belief that the Turkish and Syrian States and people will overcome this difficult and challenging period soon, and stabilise their socio-economic lives. Read full story

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s official visit to Brunei from February 10-11 is expected to open up more cooperation opportunities between the two countries.

Vietnam and Brunei established their diplomatic ties in 1992 and upgraded their relationship to a comprehensive partnership during a State visit to Vietnam by Sultan Darussalam in March 2019. However, the two-way trade has yet to match potential of the two countries. Read full story

- The German Government has stated that it highly values development cooperation with Vietnam, highlighting the efficiency and quality of bilateral coordination.

In reply to German lawmakers’ questions about bilateral development cooperation, the German Government said it has chosen Vietnam as one of the eight global partners, along with Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Peru and South Africa, which altogether account for 45% of the global population. Read full story

- The State Treasury raised 32.8 trillion VND (1.39 billion USD) worth of Government bonds, or 96.56% of the total G-bonds on offer, via eight auctions on the Hanoi Stock Exchange during January.

The figure was equivalent to 30.4% of the first-quarter issuance plan and 8.21% of the annual target.Read full story

- Domestic internet service providers said on February 7 that the Network Operation Center (NOC) Services announced the repairs scheduled for three broken undersea cables that have resulted in slowed connections in Vietnam in the last few weeks.
