- Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan on March 8 met with female ambassadors and chief representatives of international organisations in Vietnam on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

Speaking at the meeting, Xuan extended the best wishes to the guests and thanked them for their contributions to peace and development in the world in general and in Vietnam in particular. Read full story

- On the occasion of the International Women’s Day 2023, the UN Resident Coordinator, the Chief of Mission of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and the Ambassadors of Australia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Sweden, UK and the US to Vietnam have joined voices to celebrate the strength of women and girls on the move. - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang suggested improving internal capacity and national competitiveness on the basis of strengths and characteristics of each least developed country at the 5th United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5) in Doha, Qatar, from March 5-8. - Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang received a delegation of Japan’s Kyushu Economic Federation, led by Honorary Chairman Aso Yutaka, in Hanoi on March 8.

The Deputy PM congratulated the delegation on the inauguration of the Kyushu promotion centre in Hanoi, believing that the centre will be helpful in developing the cooperation between Kyushu region and Vietnam. Read full story

- Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang on March 8 received Ye Liaoning, Chairman of the  Sunny Optical Technology Group of China, which is currently investing in the northern province of Thai Nguyen.

While acknowledging the group's investment, development and expansion plan worth between 2-2.5 billion USD in Thai Nguyen, Quang said the province is experienced in attracting and creating favourable conditions for high-tech enterprises. Read full story

- Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Council Nguyen Thi Le on March 8 received Melissa Brown, Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs at the US Department of State, who is on a working visit to the city.

Highlighting the strong progress in Vietnam - US ties, Le said relations between HCM City and the US have also been flourishing, especially in economy and trade. Read full story

- The People’s Committee of Vinh Phuc held a conference on March 8 with a view to attracting more strategic investors from Japan to the northern province. The event looked to promote the attraction of strategic investment to such fields as processing, manufacturing, hi-tech agriculture, trade, and services while creating a chance for local enterprises to boost cooperation with Japanese partners. - The Vinabeef Tam Dao livestock and beef processing complex project, requiring some 3 trillion VND (130.4 million USD) in total investment is in its first stage, launched at a ceremony in the northern province of Vinh Phuc on March 8.

As a joint effort between Vilico - an affiliate of Vinamilk and Japan’s diversified conglomerate Sojitz, the complex sprawls over 75.6ha in Tam Dao, made up of a beef cattle farm accommodating 10,000 head and a chilled beef processing plant with an annual capacity of 30,000 head, or 10,000 tonnes of product. - A chef in a restaurant in Da Lat city, Central Highland province of Lam Dong, has brought home two gold medals and two silver medals at the Malaysia Culinary World Cup 2023 that took place in Malaysia on February 21-23.

Doan Thanh Dien, born in 1990, works for Tam Lua Restaurant in Da Lat city and registered to join the competition in Malaysia, intending to make typical Vietnamese dishes with ingredients available in Da Lat. Rad full story
