Hanoi, (VNA) - The following is a list of selected news summaries last night by the Vietnam News Agency.

- President Vo Van Thuong and his entourage arrived at Heathrow International Airport in London on May 4 afternoon (local time), beginning their visit to attend the coronation of King Charles III at the invitation of the Royal Family of the UK.
UK Ambassador to Vietnam Iain Frew said this is a very significant moment as the UK has not had a coronation in the past seven decades. Therefore, it is of great importance that President Thuong, along with other leaders from around the world, comes to the UK to witness this meaningful event. 

– National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue has welcomed Prime Minister of Luxembourg Xavier Bettel to Vietnam on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties, believing that the visit will boost relations.
During a meeting with the guest in Hanoi on May 4, Chairman Hue hailed the outcomes of talks between the Vietnamese and Luxembourg PMs, adding that he and the Vietnamese legislature highly appreciate bilateral friendship and cooperation via both Government and parliament channels, with regular exchange of high-level visits.

– Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan held separate working sessions with leaders of the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA), Masdar Clean Energy and Mubadala Investment Company, and representatives of the  Vietnamese community in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on May 3 and 4 during her trip to the country.
Meeting with AGDA leaders, Xuan hailed the important role of AGDA in research and training of diplomats and Government leaders of the UAE. 

– Politburo member and permanent member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s Secretariat Truong Thi Mai held talks with Politburo member and permanent member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) Central Committee Roberto Morales Ojeda in Hanoi on May 4.
Ojeda is in Vietnam from April 30 – May 4 to co-chair the fifth theoretical workshop between the two Parties.

- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Switzerland have signed a cofinancing agreement of up to 5 million USD to develop financial technologies (fintech) that can help address low financial inclusion in Vietnam, particularly among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
This funding, along with a 2 million USD contribution from the Japan Fund for Prosperous and Resilient Asia and the Pacific, financed by the Government of Japan, will support a technical assistance (TA) project that aims to expand inclusive and climate finance in the country.

– The Vietnamese Embassy in Switzerland held a gathering on May 3 with some Swiss friends who supported peace for Vietnam during the wartime.
The event took place on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - 2023).

- The Embassies of Russia and Belarus in Vietnam together held a ceremony in Hanoi on May 4 to celebrate the 78th anniversary of Victory Day over Fascism in the Great Patriotic War (May 9, 1945 – 2023).
In his remarks, Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Bezdetko Gennady Schepanovich said the marking of the victory and the "Immortal Regiment" parade has become a tradition in Russia and many parts of the world to pay tribute to those who took part in the Great Patriotic War.

– The authorities of the northern province of Bac Giang on May 4 presented certificates recognising investment registration to two Singaporean-funded projects worth 132 million USD in the local districts of Viet Yen and Yen Dung.
One of the projects is invested by the Singaporean-based HIUV Applied Materials Technology Investment Pte. Ltd and located at Viet Yen’s Viet Han industrial park. The 90-million-USD project, set to span some 52,803 sq.m. of land, aims to manufacture self-adhesive PET protective films, EAV films, silicone films, film materials, and plastic products and materials serving the solar energy industry./.
