Hanoi (VNA) – Morocco will enhance high-ranking visits to Vietnam and continue bilateral cooperation at regional and international forums, Vice President of the Moroccan House of Representatives Mohammed Ouzzine has said.

He and other Vice President of the Moroccan House of Representatives Amina Maelainine were received by Chairwoman of the National Assembly (NA) of Vietnam Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan in Hanoi on January 19.

Ngan welcomed the Moroccan delegates, who are attending the 26th Annual Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF-26) and congratulated Morocco on its election as Vice President of the 72nd Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

She said two-way trade value of 190 million USD in 2016 is modest and below expectations so the two countries should step up economic and trade cooperation and  bolster links between business communities and trade associations in trade, tourism, finance, renewable energy and bilateral investment.
For his part, Mohammed Ouzzine highly valued Vietnam’s organisation of the APPF-26.

With similarities in history and thriving political ties, Vietnam and Morocco will assume significant roles to connect the African Union and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), he added.

Ouzzine stressed the cooperation agreement signed by the two countries during the Moroccan House of Representatives President’s trip to Vietnam in last December would serve as an important legal basis for future bilateral collaboration.-VNA
