Trade opportunities are expected to open for the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho and Plzen region in western part of Bohemia, the Czech Republic, as the two localities inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in multi-faceted fields on April 17.

Le Hung Dung, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee said that the MoU is to foster collaboration between both sides’ businesses, adding that the city is calling for Plzen’s investment across the fields of tourism, industrial zone infrastructure construction and education.

Plzen region governor Vaclav Slajs expressed his hope to set up cooperation with Can Tho in fields of their strengths.

Plzen region will create favourable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to invest in its strengths such as mechanics, beer production technology, construction and transportation, affirmed Vaclav Slajs, who is accompanied by representatives of 16 Plzen firms during his current visit to Can Tho.

In 2014, the Mekong Delta province raked in 1.35 billion USD from exports, 157,000 USD of which gained from selling its key products, such as frozen tra fish fillet, to the Czech market. The city also imported from the European market inorganic chemicals, valuing at 12,000 USD.-VNA
