Murals on Hanoi street encourage public to join hands in COVID-19 fight

Murals featuring Vietnam’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic are completed. These murals on this photo highlight the image of ‘white blouse’ soldiers who have worked hard on the frontline of the combat, and encourage people to join hands towards a coronavirus-free world. The capital city of Hanoi is taking proactive measures in response to the pandemic that focus on active detection of infections, quick contact tracing, and vaccination. Recently, the capital city launched a COVID-19 map so as to facilitate its prevention and control measures. The 100-metre-long art work features 10 large paintings on COVID-19 prevention and control. According to the Ministry of Health, Vietnam recorded 46 locally-transmitted COVID-19 cases and one imported case over the past 12 hours to 6am on June 21, mostly in Ho Chi Minh City. Thirty-three cases were reported in the southern hub, while five others were found in Bac Giang, four in Bac Ninh, two in Tien Giang and one each in Nghe An and Tra Vinh. They receive support from Ha Dong district’s Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union. The young painter shared that he had chosen the topic of COVID-19 prevention and control with the hope that people would have better understanding of and empathize with the hard work of doctors and nurses who are exerting their efforts in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. A painter is completing a mural calling on all Vietnamese citizens to follow the Ministry of Health’s 5K message, including khau trang (facemask), khu khuan (disinfection), khoang cach (distance), khong tu tap (no gathering), and khai bao y te (health declaration). The process of ideation, construction and completion of murals on Vu Trong Khanh street lasts in one week. Vietnam is stepping up the COVID-19 vaccination campaign as well as efforts to secure 150 million vaccine doses this year with a view to inoculating 70 percent of its population to achieve herd immunity in late 2021. The paintings with different topics but all carry the message of fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. Vietnam is about to launch its largest-scale vaccination campaign ever with around 150 million COVID-19 vaccine doses to be injected, aiming to reach herd immunity  as soon as possible, according to Health Minister Nguyen Thanh Long. The campaign will be implemented in every province and city and injection stations will be set up in all communes and wards. Apart from current injection sites, there will be mobile injection stations to vaccinate people in factories, students in schools and other areas to ensure residents can be injected in the most convenient and easiest way, said Long.
