Hanoi, (VNA) – The 21st Century Panglong Peace Conference of Myanmar has agreed to continue reviewing the framework for political talks and start the dialogue at the national level after the conference, the Union Peace Dialogue Joint Committee (UPDJC) said on September 1. 

The matter was agreed on the first day of the conference on August 31. 

Lieutenant General Yar Pyae, member of the Preparatory Committee for the Panglong Peace Conference, stated that the Joint Monitoring Committee (JMC)’s undertakings focus on the achievements in reducing tensions among signatory armed groups to the Nationwide Ceasefire Accord (NCA). 

He also stressed the necessity of maintaining measures to enhance stability ease violence and build trust among armed groups, adding that these efforts will create conditions for the political dialogue, thus paving way for federalism. 

The national-level political dialogue will be carried out as agreed in the framework of the dialogue with the participation of representatives from the government , the parliament, the military, ethnic armed organisations, political parties and civil society organisations. 

The four-day conference kicked off in Nay Pyi Taw on August 31, aiming to end the seven-decade-long conflicts in the country. It has drawn 1,800 representatives from the government, the parliament, ethnic armed and non-armed groups and civil societies

The UPDJC, the JMC and the Preparatory Committee for the Panglong Peace Conference submitted their reports on the framework of political dialogue to the conference.-VNA
