Hanoi (VNA) – On April 5, Myanmar's Union Parliament approved some portfolios appointed by new President U Htin Kyaw.

Aung San Suu Kyi, leader of the ruling National League for Democracy, maintained her posts as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of the President's Office.

U Myo Thein Gyi was appointed as Minister of Education, and U Pe Zin Tun as Minister of Electric Power and Energy.

Currently, U Myo Thein Gyi is director-general of the Department of Higher Education, while U Pe Zin Tun is permanent secretary of Ministry of Electric Power and Energy.

The parliament also adopted the appointments of U Tun Tun Oo as attorney-general and U Maw Than as auditor-general.

Previously, Htin Kyaw proposed another position for Aung San Suu Kyi as a special "state counsellor", an appointment that would allow her to liaise between the presidency and parliament.-VNA
