Myanmar parliament speaker wraps up Vietnam visit

During his stay, the representative held talks with his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Sinh Hung and paid courtesy calls to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Truong Tan Sang.

During the meetings, the two sides affirmed that the visit helped foster the relationship between the two legislative bodies, thus deepening the traditional Vietnam-Myanmar friendship and multi-faceted cooperation.

They agreed there was a great potential for the two countries to promote their economic cooperation, especially on trade and investment.

Both sides expressed their belief that bilateral ties would continue to flourish in the future, particularly in the fields of agriculture, energy, telecommunications, finance and banking.

They also agreed to increase the exchange of delegations and share experience in law-making whilst facilitating business operations in the two countries.

During his visit, Speaker Thura U Shwe Mann met with representatives of the Association of Vietnamese Investors in Myanmar (AVIM) and the Vietnam-Myanmar Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group before visiting Ho Chi Minh City and its places of interesting.-VNA
