Myanmar has ratified the ASEAN Convention on Counter-Terrorism (ACCT), the ASEAN Secretariat said on Mar. 5.

Myanmar sent its ratification to ASEAN Secretary General Surin Pitsuwan, becoming the seventh member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to approve the pact.

Earlier, Singapore , Thailand , Vietnam , the Philippines , Cambodia and Brunei ratified the pact.

Based on ACCT Article 21, the convention would take effect with the approval of six member countries, so the ACCT came into effect from May 28, 2011 when Brunei, the sixth member, ratified it.-VNA
