The Thai and Myanmar Public Health Ministries have signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in several public health issues, preparing both for the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).

The MoU was inked during a meeting between Thai Public Health Minister Pradit Sintawanarong and his Myanmar counterpart in Mandalay , Myanmar .

Under the MoU, the first between Thailand and Myanmar related to public health, both nations will help solve the public health problems together. The agreement is to last five years, covering cooperation in information sharing, personnel development, co-research on native herbs, disease awareness, disease control in border areas, and prevention of emerging contagious diseases.-VNA
