Myanmar will organise another by-election for 31 open parliamentary seats before its general election in late 2015.

The information was released by Chairman of the Union Election Commission (UEC) U Tin Aye at a March 20 session of the parliament's Lower House.

The date of the by-election will be announced three months in advance, he said.

Myanmar’s last general election was on November 7, 2010, when the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) won the majority of votes with its Chairman U Thein Sein elected as the country's President.

On April 1, 2012, a by-election was held, in which the opposition party, the National League for Democracy (NLD), won 43 out of 45 open parliamentary seats with its chairperson Aung San Suu Kyi occupying a seat of the Lower House.-VNA
