Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung joined other candidates for the 13 th National Assembly to hold 10 meetings with voters in the northern port city of Hai Phong from May 10-12 as part of their election campaign.

At the meeting venues, including An Lao, Tien Lang and Vinh Bao, Kien An and Duong Kinh districts, PM Dung and other candidates presented their plans of action, promising that if elected, they would do their utmost to fulfill their tasks as the representatives for the legitimate rights and interests of the people.

The candidates also pledged to keep close contact with voters, spend much time meeting and studying their aspirations as well as collect and honestly reflect their recommendations to the NA and relevant State agencies.

In his speech, PM Dung affirmed he will work hard to organise the implementation socio-economic orientations and tasks set out in the Resolution of the 11 th National Party Congress, the country’s 2011-2020 socio-economic development strategy towards the overall objective of turning Vietnam into a modern-oriented industrialised country by 2020, he said.

He stressed his immediate task of leading the implementation of the Government’s Resolution No. 11 on measures to curb inflation, stabilise the macro economy and ensure social welfares.

Voters at the meeting venues highly valued and expressed their unanimity with the action programmes of the NA candidates, saying that the programmes put forth practical issues for people of all strata.

They suggested that as people’s representatives, NA deputies should have stronger voices as well as make more effective proposals on administrative reform, policymaking, law building, corruption and waste prevention, preferential policies for people who rendered service during the war and policy beneficiary families, and health care services for people, especially the poor./.
