National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung attended a gathering of hundreds of investors from all parts of the country in the central province of Nghe An on February 15, marking the sixth year the event of this kind has ever been held.

Chairman Hung asked the province to come up with incentives, expand seaport network and the East – West highway to facilitate trade.

To do this, he requested local authorities to review their socio-economic development master plan while paying attention to better long-term planning.

The provincial officials expressed hope for investors pouring more capital into Nghe An, focusing on high technology and environmentally-friendly industry.

Economists and businessmen suggested the province improve the training of high-quality human resources and the planning of raw materials and work on large-scale projects to generate strides in socio-economic development structure.

At the event, the provincial People’s Committee granted investment licenses to numerous home and foreign business players.

At similar events held in 2009-13, Nghe An licensed and signed 47 projects valued at over 61.6 trillion VND (2.9 billion USD), including five foreign-invested deals worth more than 2.5 trillion VND (110 million USD).

The same day, the top legislator attended a ceremony to kick-start the construction of a 450 billion VND (21.4 million USD) flyover across National Highway 46 under the build-operate-transfer model.

He attended the inauguration of workshop No.1 of Nghe An’s largest hi-tech industrial production complex, which is, in the next five years, expected to generate job for nearly 16,000 workers.

The Chairman then launched a tree planting ceremony in the locality.-VNA
