The US Congress is ready to share its law making experiences with Vietnam and back Vietnam’s participation in the Trans-Pacific Partnership, said the Chairman of the Sub-committee on Asia and the Pacific under the US House of Representatives’ Foreign Affairs Committee Matt Salmon.

Meeting National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung in Hanoi on May 6, Salmon agreed with his host’s suggestions on strengthening bilateral cooperation and delivering on government-level commitments.

He said the Vietnamese legislature plays an important role in lawmaking and the national reform cause.

The host hailed the US government and Congress for their active efforts to address war consequences in Vietnam, especially in dealing with Agent Orange/dioxin.

He thanked the US Congress for its concern about and positive response in maintaining peace, security and stability in Asia, and hoped that both countries will continue their mutual support at international parliamentary forums.-VNA
