Vietnam and Finland should boost the exchange of high-ranking delegations and the sharing of experiences between their legislatures and understanding, solidarity and friendship between their peoples.
Vietnamese National Assembly Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Kien made the statement while meeting with Finnish Parliament Speaker Sauli Niinisto and First Deputy Speaker Seppo Kaaria during his visit to Finland from April 5-7.
The NA Vice Chairman briefed his Finnish hosts on Vietnam’s socio-economic situation after more than 20 years of renovation and the country’s efforts to overcome the global economic crisis.
He also affirmed Vietnam’s consistent policy of being a friend and a reliable partner of all countries throughout the world.
He spoke highly of Finland’s great economic achievements and good social welfare policies.
Speaker Sauli said that Finland attaches importance to expanding multi-faceted cooperation with traditional countries, including Vietnam .
During the visit, the Vietnamese delegation worked with many agencies and groups of Finnish parliamentarians.
The delegation also visited Tampere, the third largest city in Finland, and met with the Vietnamese community in the capital city of Helsinki./.
