National Assembly (NA) lawmakers on May 6 held meetings with members of the public in the northern provinces of Hoa Binh and Ha Nam to collect their opinions ahead of the legislative body’s seventh session, which is scheduled for May.

Politburo member Dinh The Huynh, who is also head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communications and Education, joined the NA deputies of Hoa Binh to meet voters in Ky Son district and Luong Son town.

Residents from Ky Son voiced their opinions on issues regarding legal education, traffic safety, policies for Agent Orange victims, the progress of infrastructure projects, and shortcomings in the health sector.

Meanwhile, Luong Son voters expressed their concerns over suspended projects, land management, environmental pollution and bonuses given to local officials.

Welcoming their proposals, Huynh said intensifying the fight against corruption is vital to drive Vietnam’s development. To that end, local authorities need to remove legal flaws, firmly deal with violations and summon the strength of the whole society in the work.

Also on May 6, Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan and deputies of Ha Nam met members of the public from the province’s Liem Phong and Xuan Khe communes.

Local people asked the NA and the Government to pay more attention to agriculture and rural development and the discrimination between patients who benefit from health insurance and those do not.

They also suggested the NA value land prices in accordance with the market so that residents do not suffer from losses when their land is reclaimed.

In response, Vice President Doan acquired their opinions, which will be tabled at the NA’s upcoming session, and requested local authorities to handle voters’ concerns on the issues promptly.-VNA
