Hanoi (VNA) – A draft resolution on the settlement of bad debts at credit institutions and a bill on amendments and supplements to the Law on Credit Institutions were high on the agenda of the National Assembly (NA)’s sitting on June 7.

At the morning plenum, NA deputies discussed the necessity and the scope of the draft resolution on bad debt settlement, the definition of bad debts, and principles of settling bad debts.

They also looked into the right to collateral seizure, the formation of a debt market, along with possible difficulties and challenges relating to the resolution implementation, among others.

Regarding the draft law on amendments and supplements to some articles of the Law on Credit Institutions, parliamentarians scrutinised the scope of the draft, the exemption from responsibility of people engaging in the restructuring of credit institutions under special control, and the supplementation of bad debt settlement to the draft law.

Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam Le Minh Hung later clarified some issues mentioned by deputies.

In the afternoon, NA deputies had group discussions on the draft law on forest protection and development (revised) and the draft law on fisheries (revised).

On June 8, the parliament is set to discuss some contents in the draft law on irrigation in the morning sitting.

In the afternoon, the NA is scheduled to vote on a resolution on a law and ordinance making programme for 2018 and revisions to the law and ordinance making programme in 2017. Deputies will also appraise the resettlement work of the Long Thanh international airport project.-VNA
