– The Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) wants to invite young Japanese parliamentarians to visit Vietnam in January to enhance relations between the legislative bodies of the two countries, President of the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group Pham Minh Chinh said on August 26.

At a meeting with Japan’s State Minister of Finance Suzuki Keisuke, who is also a member of the House of Representatives, Chinh lauded diverse and effective activities of the friendship parliamentarians’ groups of both countries which, he said, have helped promote collaboration between Vietnamese and Japanese localities.

Chinh, head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Organisation, said the recent visits and meetings of high-ranking leaders of the two countries have opened up a new development period for the bilateral ties.

Vietnam and Japan are each other’s extensive strategic partners that always exchange views on bilateral and global issues, he said.

The Vietnamese NA supports and highly values the Vietnam-Japan extensive strategic partnership that is developing strongly, comprehensively and practically, the official affirmed.

As members of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), Vietnam and Japan have substantial opportunities to step up cooperation bilaterally and within the framework of the agreement, Chinh said.

In reply, Keisuke suggested the two countries continue with all-level delegation exchange to further boost their economic and trade ties.

Vietnam remains an investment destination of Japanese businesses, he said, noting Japanese firms hope that the business environment in Vietnam will be improved in the time ahead.-VNA
