National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung has pledged with Chairman of the Thailand-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group Paijit Srenwarakan that the two countries’ friendship legislators will be facilitated to continue their close cooperation.

At a reception in Hanoi on August 9, Chairman Hung said he is pleased at the working outcomes of the Parliamentary Friendship Groups of Thailand and Vietnam, hailing their specific cooperation activities as practical to the ties between the two law-making bodies.

He also expressed his delight at the two countries’ establishment of strategic partnership during the recent Thailand visit of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Chairman Hung said this is an important step forward in deepening the two countries’ ties in a practical manner in the interests of both countries and for the sake of peace, stability and development in the region.

He said he hopes the two parliamentary friendship groups will work more closely in enhancing the efficiency of cooperation between the two law-making bodies to match the newly-established strategic partnership.

The NA leader conveyed his invitation to the Speaker of the Thai Upper House to attend the General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Vietnam in 2015.

For his part, Paijit Srenwarakan affirmed that the Parliament of Thailand always backs the development of ties with Vietnam .

He stated that the Thai Parliament also attaches much importance to creating favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community’s local integration and contributions to building Thailand, enabling them to act as a bridge between the two peoples.

The same day, Chairman Hung also hosted a reception for outgoing Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Fresdesman Turro Gonzales

He praised the Cuban ambassador for fostering the Vietnam-Cuba cooperation in all fields, especially in politics, economics and health care.

Chairman Hung stressed that Vietnam and Cuba have enjoyed a traditional friendship and special solidarity nurtured by generations of leaders of both countries.

Over the past years, the all-round cooperation between the two countries has yielded fruits, benefiting the common development of both sides, he noted.

Applauding the socio-economic achievements made by Cuba , the NA leader voiced hopes that the two sides will bolster cooperation in economics, trade and investment, and Cuba will favour Vietnamese businesses which seek investment opportunities in the country.

He expressed hope that in any new positions, the ambassador will continue doing for the development of bilateral ties.

Ambassador Fresdesman Turro Gonzales made it clear that Cuba will always walk with Vietnam in its international integration and national construction and development cause.

In recent years, the ties between Vietnam and Cuba have been flourishing, rested on mutual trust and consensus on regional and international matters of mutual concerns, he noted.

Appreciating the Vietnamese NA and Government for their support during his office term, the diplomat affirmed that in any positions, he will do his utmost to foster Vietnam-Cuba relations.-VNA
