The 12th National Assembly ended its month-long 7 th session on June 19, having assigned and requested the government to further study and finalise the mega transport project and capital city’s master plan.

“This is one of the busiest and most effective sessions that helps solve abundant and important issues,” said NA Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong.

During the 25-day sitting, the NA deputies reviewed the implementation of socio-economic plans and State budget in 2009 and in the first months of 2010, debated and passed bills and decided on national issues.

They also considered the nation’s important projects including the construction of Hanoi – Ho Chi Minh City Express Railway and the Hanoi Master Plan through 2030 with a vision to 2050.

Addressing the closing ceremony, Chairman Trong stressed the significance and large scale of the railway express project that would exert diverse socio-economic impacts and catches great attention of the public.

Therefore, he said, the NA has thoroughly and seriously considered the project and assigned the government to finalise a master plan of transport development for the whole nation as well as for every region in the country and the North-South transport system.

The NA Chairman also said preparations for the Hanoi Master Plan are very important, yet facing many difficulties. The legislative body, therefore, asked the government to study and gather the deputies’ opinions for completion of the plan.

He finally called on the people and soldiers across the country and overseas Vietnamese to promote their sense of national solidarity and overcome challenges to fulfill the tasks that have been set and successfully implement the 2006-2010 socio-economic plan.

This would be outstanding achievements, to celebrate the 1,000 th birthday of the Thang Long-Hanoi capital, the 65 th founding anniversary of the country and the Vietnamese NA, and party congresses at all levels to prepare for the upcoming 11 th national party congress, the NA Chairman said./.
