The National Assembly’s (NA) Standing Committee began its 36th session in Hanoi on December 1 under the chairmanship of NA Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong.

The committee approved its working plan for 2011 and the NA agencies’ external affairs and international cooperation programmes for 2011 on its first working day.

During their three-day session, the committee will give opinion on a draft report on the NA’s performance during its 2007-2011 tenure, a report on the preparations for the 65th anniversary of Vietnam’s NA, review the outcomes of the eighth session and prepare for the next session of the 12th NA.

The committee will contribute their opinions to the Government’s paper on the dissolution of criminal investigation agencies and security investigation agencies belonging to Hanoi ’s High Command and renaming the First and Second Zones’ crime investigation agencies under the General Department of Logistics.

The session will also see opinions being put forward on the Bill on the Prevention of People Trafficking and the draft Law on Amendments and Supplements to some Articles of the Civil Procedures Code./.
