NA Standing Committee convenes 11th session

The 11th session of the 13th NA’s Standing Committee opened in Hanoi on September 12 under the chair of NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung.
The 11th session of the 13th National Assembly’s Standing Committee opened in Hanoi on September 12 under the chair of NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung.

The session is scheduled to last for nine days and is divided into three stages, with the first one sitting from September 12-14, the second from September 17-19 and the last from September 24-26.

The session will prepare many important topics for the fourth sitting of the 13 th National Assembly, which will be held at the end of this year.

In his opening speech, Chairman Hung said the draft laws to be discussed, especially the draft Law on Land, are highly significant and have attracted the interest of voters nationwide.

The committee will also comment on the process, procedures and methods of holding votes of confidence on people holding positions elected or approved by the National Assembly and People’s Councils , he added.

The legislative chief noted that this is just a preparatory step before submitting proposals to the National Assembly at the end of the year.

Later on, the committee gave their opinions on the auditing plans for 2013.

The NA’s Finance and Budget Committee asked the State Audit Office to step up inspections of major projects, especially those that are slated to complete in 2012 and receive preferential capital allocations.

The operation of large groups and corporations that use a large amount of capital or State assets and operate in priority sectors such as electricity, coal and oil and gas also need close supervision.

Monetary policies will be finely scrutinised as well as the merging and restructuring of commercial banks, the session heard.-VNA
