– The ninth meeting of the 14th National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee will take place from April 17-22 in preparation for the NA’s 3rd session to be held in May.

During the event, lawmakers will discuss the second and third revision to the Law on Support for Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises, Law on Planning, Law on Use and Management of State Assets (revised), Law on State’s Law on State Compensation Liability (revised), and Law on adjustments and supplementations to several articles of the Penal Code No.100/2015/QH13.

The standing committee will deliberate the 2018 law and ordinance making programme and adjustments to the 2017 programme, as well as a project on working positions of the Supreme People’s Court and the appointment of members of the national council on judge selection and supervision.

A Government report on thrift practice and anti-wastefulness in 2016 and a report on the implementation of food safety laws and policies during 2011-2016 will also be put on table.

Specifically, a question and answer session will be conducted on April 18. The first part will focus on policies for people who rendered service to the nation, vocational training for the youth and demobilized soldiers and policemen, and the management of detoxification centres, with the Minister of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs to be questioned. The Ministers of Defence, Planning and Investment, Finance, Justice, and Education and Training and the head of the Committee on Ethnic Affairs will explain related issues.

Meanwhile, the second part will concentrate on the management of cyber information safety and the censoring of advertisements on mass media with the Minister of Information and Communications to be grilled. The Ministers of Public Security, Defence, and Culture, Sports and Tourism will give explanations for related issues.-VNA
