The 13 th National Assembly (NA) will convene its eighth session at the headquarters of the new NA House from October 20 onwards, marking the longest meeting this tenure so far with 35 working days.
During the session, a legal framework for the institutionalisation of the 2013 Constitution will be a top priority.
The legislative body is expected to adopt 18 draft laws and three draft resolutions, and debate 12 other draft laws, the most so far.
It will also hear the Government’s report on the East Sea situation and a report on the renewal of textbooks and high school curricula.
The law-making body will continue to apply the vote of confidence for position holders elected or approved by the National Assembly and the People’s Councils, and put forward a revised resolution on this procedure.
Talking to voters in the run up to the meeting, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung voiced his hope that they would continue to give feedback to improve the NA’s operations and strengthen its role of representing the people. This would help strengthen people’s trust in the Party and State, and consolidate national unity, he said.
Voter Duong Xuan Thau, 85, of Cam Xuyen district in the central province of Ha Tinh, said the NA Steering Committee’s collection of expert opinions on draft laws was a positive change that could improve the efficiency of lawmaking.
Meanwhile, Lang Mong Thanh from the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai suggested the NA tighten its supervisory measures in order to ensure policies are enforced effectively at the grassroots level.-VNA
