National Assembly Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu expressed his hope for stronger cooperation between the Vietnam Peace Committee (VPC) and the Chinese People’s Association for Peace and Disarmament (CPAPD) for the benefit of Vietnam and China.

The NA Vice Chairman, who is also Chairman of the VPC, voiced his wish at a meeting with CPAPD Deputy Secretary General Tao Tao in Hanoi on October 22.

The host made it clear that Vietnam is keen to work with China to continuously foster their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

With regard to maritime issues, differences and disputes needed to be negotiated and addressed peacefully and in line with international law and the agreements reached by senior Party and State leaders of the two countries, he said, adding that with their peace keeping mission, the VPC and CPAPD would play a constructive role in nurturing ties between the two countries.

Tao said his visit aims to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two organisations and the traditional friendship between the two peoples.

He called for more people-to-people exchanges and visits thus contributing to peace in the region and beyond.

During talks with the CPAPD delegation on the same day, the VPC expressed the hope to join hands with organisations and agencies in realising the agreements reached between Vietnamese and Chinese leaders, settling marine disputes, in an effort to ensure peace and stability in the East Sea.

The Chinese delegation was also received by Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations Nguyen Thi Hoang Van and Vice Chairman of the Vietnam-China Friendship Association Bui Hong Phuc.

The delegation will also hold working sessions with a number of Vietnamese associations during its visit, which lasts until October 25.-VNA
