National Assembly deputies meet Hanoi voters

NA Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong and NA deputies of Hanoi met with voters in the city’s districts of Ba Dinh and Cau Giay to prepare for the 7th session of the 12th legislature.

National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong and NA deputies of Hanoi on May 3 met with voters in the city’s districts of Ba Dinh and Cau Giay to prepare for the 7th session of the 12th legislature.

Most of the participating voters said they were pleased with reforms of the NA’s operations, which have greatly improved the quality of meetings with voters, the law-making process and supervision of the government’s performance.

At the parliament’s sessions, many issues regarding national welfare and the people’s livelihood were discussed carefully and democratically, increasing trust among the people, the voters said.

However, they demanded that the Cabinet members give direct answers to questions raised by NA deputies and should keep track of the implementation of their commitments.

Many voters voiced their concern over the city’s urban planning and the quality of works and major infrastructure projects, as well as other social issues such as violence at schools, employment for university graduates, healthcare insurance, quality of tertiary education, and the fight against corruption and waste.

Trong told the voters that in the face of new requirements of the cause of national construction and development, the NA has managed to improve the quality and efficiency of its operations. Increasing democracy in the whole society is a target and at the same time the momentum of national development, he noted.

Regarding land management and project site clearance, the chairman said it is inevitable for the country to give over agricultural land to other purposes to serve national modernisation and industrialisation.

As a result, many farmer households have no farming land anymore, he said, stressing the need to create jobs for these farmers to help them stabilise their lives./.
