Hanoi (VNA) – The National Assembly cast secret ballots and elected Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc as the PM during a plenary session chaired by top legislator Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan in Hanoi on April 7.

Lawmakers listened to a report delivered by NA Secretary General Nguyen Hanh Phuc about the outcomes of group discussions on the scheduled nomination for the post.

President Tran Dai Quang presented a report on acquiring feedback on the expected candidate.

The NA later adopted the candidacy.

After the result of voting was announced, the NA Secretary General delivered a draft resolution on the PM’s election which was also later passed by lawmakers.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc was then sworn in.

The President submitted a proposal relieving the Vice President, the Chief Judge of the Supreme People’s Court and the Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuracy of their duties.

Following morning discussions in groups, the NA cast secret ballots for the dismissal in the afternoon.

After listening to draft resolutions on the dismissal presented by the NA Secretary General, legislators unanimously voted to adopt them.

President Quang submitted a list of personnel for the posts, which was then tabled for debate.

As scheduled on April 8, the NA is to elect the Vice President, the Chief Judge of the Supreme People’s Court and the Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuracy during the morning session.

In the afternoon, lawmakers will adopt the discharge of several Deputy Prime Ministers, ministers and other Government members.-VNA
