The official also spoke of Russia’s backing of Vietnam at multi-lateral cooperative mechanisms, and her peaceful means to deal with disputes in the East Sea, while proposing strengthening delegation exchanges and information sharing for stronger ties between the Vietnamese NA and the Federation Council and the State Duma.

Speaker Matviyenko confirmed that the relations with Vietnam are a priority of Russia in the Asian-Pacific region, in which cooperation between the NA and the Federation Council is an important part of the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership.

She shared the view of continuing delegation exchanges at all levels and across sectors like economics, trade, energy, tourism, culture and education for the result-oriented cooperation.

At the meetings, both sides agreed that the two countries’ legislative bodies will soon ratify and coordinate in supervising the implementation of signed agreements to boost the bilateral ties and lift bilateral trade to 10 billion USD by 2020.
