The Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia held a banquet on August 28 to celebrate the 68th National Day of Vietnam (September 2).

Addressing the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Malaysia Nguyen Hong Thao said since the two nations established diplomatic ties in March 1973, they have seen steady development in various spheres, especially politics, economics, trade, national defence-security and labour.

Thao expressed his belief that with the joint efforts of the two Governments and peoples, bilateral friendship and cooperation will further thrive.

Earlier on August 27, the Vietnamese Embassy in Cuba also hosted a feast in Havana to mark the event.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Vu Chi Cong, in his speech, said after 27 years of the renewal process, Vietnam has reaped significant socio-economic achievements and become an active member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and international community.

He also hailed the traditional solidarity, fraternal friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba over the past 50 years, which he said, are highlighted by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s successful visit to Cuba and Cuban President Raul Castro’s visit to Vietnam last year.-VNA
