Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on November 17 joined residents in Dien Bien ward of Hanoi’s Ba Dinh district in the great national unity festival, an annual event held nationwide to mark the founding anniversary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (November 18, 1930).

Local officials reported that in 2017, authorities, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and organisations in Dien Bien ward, where many top agencies of the Party and State are headquartered, presented hundreds of Lunar New Year gift packages to low-income and policy beneficiary families.

Local authorities and residents have paid attention to caring for revolution contributors and the elderly. Meanwhile, solidarity and mutual support have been maintained, becoming a cultural custom in the community.

Offering his best wishes to Dien Bien residents, PM Phuc said national development and the great national unity bloc are inseparable.

He applauded the ward’s achievements, especially in supporting impoverished households and promoting civilised lifestyle. He asked Dien Bien authorities to enhance people’s role in managing and developing the ward.

The Government leader also called on locals to uphold solidarity and mutual support and join hands to build a strong political system, thus continuing to bring into play the strength of the great national unity bloc.
