The Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN) will tap four new oil fields in the second half of the year, PVN Deputy General Director Le Minh Hong told the press on July 3.

They include two oil fields in Vietnam – Nam Rong-Doi Moi and Peal – and two in Malaysia – D30 and Dana.

Apart from providing domestic households with 7.5 billion cu.m of gas this year, the PVN plans to raise its power output in 2009 to 10 billion kWh and negotiate with Electricity of Vietnam on the sale of electricity. The PVN is operating the Ca Mau Electricity Plants No. 1 and 2 and the Nhon Trach Power Plant.

The group is closely monitoring the test-run of the Dung Quat Oil Refinery which is scheduled to be inaugurated in October.

The PVN has fulfilling most of its targets for the first half of the year, including a turnover of 120 trillion VND, surpassing the plan by 13 percent. It earned 3.5 billion USD from oil exports in the period, meeting 80 percent of the year’s target./.
