The 2010 National Petanque Championships got underway in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau on May 6.
About 150 players from 12 provinces and cities nationwide including Dong Nai, Binh Phuoc, Hanoi, Nghe An, Can Tho, Soc Trang, Tra Vinh, Dong Thap, Ho Chi Minh City, Yen Bai, Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Military Zone 3 will compete in the men’s and women’s singles, doubles and trios.
The ten-day event aims to assess the development of petanque in the country and helps the athletes to prepare for the international championships in 2010 and in the coming years.
