More than 18,700 workers were sent abroad in the first quarter of this year, according to the Overseas Labour Department.

Taiwan topped the list of Vietnam's labour markets with nearly 8,400 migrant workers, followed by Malaysia and Japan with about 2,500 and 2,400 workers respectively.

The country plans to send 87,000 workers overseas this year.-VNA
