Nearly 450,000 labourers sent abroad during 2010 – 2015

The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) announced that approximately 450,000 Vietnamese labourers were sent abroad to work between 2010 and 2015.

In 2014 alone, the number of exported labourers reached 106,000, which was 22.5 percent more than the target.

During the first six months of 2015, 56,173 Vietnamese labourers,including 16,942 women, were employed overseas, a 1.7 percent increasecompared with the same period last year.

Taiwan(China) is the top market for Vietnamese workers with 7,505 labourers,followed by Japan (with 2,324 workers), the Republic of Korea, Malaysiaand Saudi Arabia, besides Qatar.

The MOLISA hassigned and implemented a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with theRepublic of Korea on sending Vietnamese workers to that country underthe Employment Permit System (EPS). The preparation for the signing ofMoUs between Vietnam and Thailand, and Vietnam and Malaysia on labourcooperation is under way.

The Department ofOverseas Labour (DOLAB) under the MOLISA supported enterprises to carryout contracts on sending labourers to Saudi Arabia and Qatar and indispatching apprentices to Japan in the construction and shipbuildingsectors since April.

The department has alsoimplemented training programmes on vocational skills, foreign languagesand other necessary knowledge required by people who want to work asdomestic workers in Taiwan.

Vietnam and Germanyhave signed a letter of intent regarding Vietnamese citizens working inGermany as caregivers. This is a good opportunity to increase the numberof Vietnamese workers going to that country to between 500 and 700 peryear.-VNA

Vietnam, Japan strengthen cooperation in leadership training

The society stressed that the ban is unilateral and unjustified; seriously infringes upon Vietnam’s sovereignty, rights and legitimate interests; violates international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS); and runs counter to the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC).

📝OP-ED: Freedom of belief and religion in Vietnam cannot be distorted
